Steven was born in Springfield and grew up in Brockton, MA. He is the son of Sandi and Herb Shuman. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts/Boston - Harbor Campus in 1998 with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Arts. In 2002, Steven switched from retail management to education and has been working as a substitute teacher since. He received his history certification in 2004 and is currently looking for a permanent position in either middle school or high school.

Steven enjoys competitive cycling, playwriting, historical research, and spending time with his son, Elliott. Steven is also a very good cook and enjoys trying new recipes, as well as learning about wine. His favourite shows are Iron Chef, the episodes of Law & Order:SVU that Ice-T is in, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, televised cycling, bowling, and baseball.

Steven is also a fan of hockey and baseball. He's a Dodgers, Mets (except for the '86 team), and both Boston teams, the Red Sox and the Braves (temporarily in Atlanta). His favourite hockey team is the New Jersey Devils.

Steven is a huge Star Wars fan, as evidenced by some of our choices for music. He has seen all six movies. His favourite character is Han Solo and his spaceship of choice is the Millenium Falcon.
